Prepare the old photo first

Use the clearest scan or photograph you have. Crop out scanner borders when they distract from the people or scene, keep the original aspect ratio when it matters, and avoid adding a new background before the first motion test. If the image contains dust, creases, very small faces, lettering, uniforms, or a recognizable family member, use a smaller motion request rather than asking the model to invent detail.

Start with preservation, not transformation

AI animation can alter faces, hands, text, badges, uniforms, jewelry, buildings, and other fine details. Review every result at full size before publishing, especially if the image is family material, documentary material, or depicts a real person. A motion draft is not evidence that the modeled movement, expression, or historical detail actually happened.

Limitations and rights

Old photos can be low resolution, damaged, tightly cropped, or visually ambiguous. Different models accept different input types and expose different duration, aspect-ratio, resolution, audio, and frame controls. Make sure you have the right to upload and use the source image, and obtain appropriate consent when the photo depicts living people.
